Donna and Mike Hood with their children:
Emily, 13; Rachel, 6
hood"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5, 6 It is such an incredible honor for me to take the next step in my family’s homeschool journey by joining WWCHE’s Board as Treasurer. Considering there are many members of our group with more wisdom and experience than myself, I don’t have a clear understanding of why God has chosen to place me in this position. I do understand that Proverbs 3:5, 6 provides the needed guidance as I humbly step into this position of responsibility. As a member of WWCHE, I am aware of the need to maintain integrity for the sake of home schoolers, our group, and the Christian community. We also have a responsibility to represent Christ in the best light possible. I thank the board for their confidence in me. It is my prayer that I will help to serve in this capacity, bringing no disappointment to anyone in the group. More importantly, I hope to please The God who has called on me to utilize my skills to further His kingdom. I met Mike after a friend called and said “I have someone you need to meet.”  Although I wasn’t interested in dating at the time (especially a blind date!), I knew this call was actually from God and the date would lead to something significant. And here we are! Emily spent her elementary years in public school. While there, I worried the entire time about her middle school years. Public school at that age seemed like the absolute worst scenario for my daughter.  Prior to her sixth grade year, not sure where we would end up, I attended one of the curriculum fairs.  I gathered lots of information – just in case.  It only took three weeks of her attending school for me to know it was time to withdraw her.  I should have listened to Emily sooner.  She knew after the very first day that she didn’t belong there. People tend to ask why we started home schooling and if we’ll continue after “this year”.  I know you get those questions too. It is such an awesome feeling to respond with “Between Mike, Emily, and myself there were a lot of different reasons we began home schooling. However, at this point, we’ve found no reason to go back to public school.”  Home schooling truly is a calling, and our entire family is being blessed because we took that step of obedience. I’m really excited that Rachel has the advantage of being a home schooler from the beginning of her years of education.  I know she’ll benefit greatly from her experience. As a family, we treasure the friendships we’ve found in the Wisdom’s Way family.  I am truly awestruck and humble to begin my journey on the Board in the position of Treasurer.  My desire is to serve God and each of you to the best of my ability, while we all work together to raise up the next generation of godly men and women.

Blessings, Donna
