Dominique Plattel
My name is Dominique Plattel, I’m the mother of 3 and wife of one (incredibly handsome fellow). Alexander is almost 11 years old, Christiane is 9 and Jeremy 6. . I have been married to Gerardus (Jerry), a very smart computer system consultant for the past 13 years of my life.
I am a native of Suriname in South America (yes, homeschoolers, get you maps out), and Jerry was born in Aruba. We met and got married in Curacao, and moved to the US about 11 years ago. We have spend the last 8 years in Georgia
We believe we‘ve been called by the Lord to homeschool our children and have been on this lovely (yet somewhat bumpy) ride for the past 7 years. I went from sobbing in my pillow when my first 4 year old couldn’t write a “b”, to yeah! I can do this, who needs a “b” anyway! Of course with a double portion of God’s grace, which is sufficient, to guide us every step of the way, we will stay the course.
For me there is tremendous joy (well….. most of the time) in being able to teach mychildren, the precious time we spend together, and seeing them grow spiritually day by day. And by grace we will be doing this for a very long time
I’m also the newsletter editor for Wisdom’s Way, which is funny, considering that, since I speak Dutch, English is a second language for me. But the Lord works in mysterious ways and so, here I am, after 5 years of wrestling with the newsletter every month, while trying to homeschool and inbetween, even feed my kids; I am still standing, okay, sitting. I guess that’s what the Lord means when he says in Isaiah 43:2: “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
This has been, and always will be my testimony, the very rock upon which I built my life.
Be encouraged today in your homeschool journey, He is faithful, He will never leave us, nor forsake us, not even when we sob in our pillows. Let us continue on this homeschool adventure (it’s really one great big fieldtrip, we learn something from it every day) faithfully, investing in the lives of our kids, pressing forward, leaning on the everlasting arms. ~Dominique
